About Chihuahua

The Chihuahua is considered the smallest dog breed in the world and bears the name of the largest state in the Republic of Mexico (Chihuahua). It is thought that this dog once lived in the wild and was captured and tamed by the natives at the time of the Toltec civilization. Some representations of a small dog called “ Techichi ” who lived in the Tula region were used in the decoration of architectural elements of this city. These statues closely resemble today’s Chihuahuas

Suitable for children

Chihuahuas are well suited to families even with small children, they are playful and eager to cuddle

I love being in company

The Chihuahua is a companion and living room dog, loves conviviality and attention

Excellent guard dog

The Chihuahua may be a very small dog, but it is able to warn of the approach of strangers, its insistent barking is synonymous with imminent danger.

I like to walk

The chihuahua is not a dog that has to be stored in a handbag, like all dogs it loves walking and socializing with others like it.

15 - 25 cm

12 - 20 years

1.5 up to 3 kg

PERSONALITY

Quick, alert, lively and very courageous, this is the chihuahua, intelligent and affectionate, he wants to spend time with his family; is a companion or parlor dog

APPEARANCE AND POISE

Long, springy, energetic and sustained stride, with good reach and thrust. Of great importance is the fact that its skull is apple-shaped and that it carries its tail, which is moderately long, very high, both curved and rounded in a semicircle with the tip pointing towards the lumbar region. Chihuahuas can have the coat of two varieties: short-haired and long-haired.

DAILY CARE

We recommend that you do not immediately give the puppy any type of bath or sponging until he has completed the main vaccination cycle, which will take place around the third month of age. Common sense, however, requires caution and above all consult your breeder or veterinarian in case there are particular situations that require different treatments.

DIET

We recommend that you continue to feed it with the same food used in the breeding (in our case, upon delivery of the puppy, you will receive a kit for the puppy). Bowls for water and baby food : provide "anti-tip" bowls for puppies, preferably in easily sanitized material

GROOMING

Nail clippers (for Chihuahuas cats are suitable), wet wipes for puppy hygiene (to be used at least until it is possible to give him the first bath), a small and soft brush, a delicate pesticide for puppies (always ask the one used in breeding is certainly the most tested and indicated for your Chihuahino

DOES THE CHARACTER GO ACCORDING TO THE SEX OF THE DOG?

Character is a personality trait, so it is subjective The character is not based on the male or female or on the type of hair ... but on many other things that are: → Parental character, from how they are raised in the place where they were born, from socialization and above all from how they are raised and educated in the new home. Do not rely on past experiences with dogs that you have had ... Let us remember that every experience is unique, do not make comparisons ... Rather, focus on establishing a balanced relationship with your new 4-legged friend. We will be here to help you or we will recommend a good educator to accompany you on the path.

DOES CHIHUAHUA TOY EXIST?

No, the chihuahua toy does not exist! Unfortunately, the term TOY is used by traders to sell a puppy (most of the cases then these puppies are 5 kg, therefore not belonging to the chihuahua standard). In the Chihuahua there is a single standard so it has no other categories that belong to it, both in terms of weight and other terminologies, such as “deer head”… it Chihuahua standard recognizes only one type of "apple head" head. To be as clear as possible we will take the example of the toy poodle, the term toy comes used as there is a larger standard which is that of the bum, so for to identify them they used different terms, for different standards, and weights too different. In the Chihuahua the difference in weight from one another can be di ect, not kg, therefore let's talk about a minimal difference!
